The History
Cathedral View, originally home to Wippell ecclesiastical suppliers in the 1880’s, is a Grade II listed building with impressive original Gothic Revival features. Exeter Cathedral is one of the oldest and arguably one of the most beautiful in England, dating back to the early 12th century. The Norman Cathedral, which was replaced from 1270 - 1340, forms the base for the beautiful Gothic building we see today, with its famous west front and elegant nave. The old city walls can still be found in nearby Southernhay, forming part of the City Wall Trail, one of many historical walks around Exeter. Summary: The accommodation was really lovely and couldn’t fault it, very clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. Brilliant location and even though it was in the city centre the bedroom was very quiet and peaceful. We don’t have a car so it was great that both buses and trains were close to hand. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again if we decided to visit Exeter again. Pretty much perfect so can’t think of anything to improve.
