Summary: It was meh. We splurged for a special night at this hotel during our Europe road trip as the pics on the third party website were exactly what we were looking for, overlooking lake Geneva. When we checked in we were told we were getting a free upgrade . When we entered the room we were both very unhappy. The room was bigger than the one we had booked but was finished cheaply and looked tacky and has ripped and roiling astroturf on the balcony . Not what we were expecting at all . So armed with pics from the website we went back to the front counter for a discussion. They did give us keys to the room next door which was exactly what we wanted and matched the pics- it was wonderful - but how they ever thought it was a potential upgrade was beyond us. We had a drink each at the bar that evening and put it on our room tab. The next morning when I was paying I provided the “ 10% off the total bill” bar coupon we had received from the same employee when we checked in. She said it didn’t cover drinks , and when I showed her what was written on it she said that was bad but couldn’t adjust it . Wasn’t a large amount but was the approach we found lacking . The breakfast was good and was pricey to us - 28CHF - but may well be what the market rate is in Montreux. All in all , it was not an experience we can recommend even though it had so much potential
