Summary: The home is very clean and was originally a working farmhouse. The owner showed us aerial views of the town and house from early 1900s and 1980. It is fascinating how the nearby village has grown. They have collected a binder full of brochures of the surrounding area. Be sure to bring food or be prepared to dine in town as there are no shops in St. Amans. The owner was excellent in showing us the place, and how to work the various appliances (and the breakers as one morning the power went out with the high winds and we were easily able to be self-sufficient). We were also happy recipients of fantastic apricot jam made by the family. Some other foods were also supplied. That was incredibly thoughtful and much appreciated. There are many rooms to relax in, including a lovely spot outside surrounded by hedges with a light for evenings. We laid down on the lawn late one night to enjoy the Milky Way and saw several falling stars. The owner and his grandfather planted the trees next to the house. The bathroom upstairs is very modern and has a nice opening window and skylight. Another reviewer mentioned that the decor is a bit dated. I didn’t mind that at all as all the furnishings were clean and comfortable. Unlike other older houses, this house had no discernible mouldy smell. (I am very sensitive to perfumes and scents.)
