As soon as you walk through the stable door, you will appreciate all the thought and expertise that has gone into making this a beautiful, interior-designed, chocolate box cottage. Oak floors and exposed stone walls add to the character of this cottage, not too mention the wood burner to curl up by. From the impressive open plan living space, French windows look out onto a wild flower meadow, truly bringing the outside in! The delightful garden and patio area provide a lovely spot for a relaxing drink, or perhaps some alfresco dining after a busy day exploring.
The pretty Derbyshire village of Great Longstone is set in a wonderful location in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The village is flanked by Longstone Edge, with Bakewell and Chatsworth House close by. There are two traditional village pubs, a shop, 18th-century stone cottages and a market cross that is situated on the delightful village green. The Monsal Trail runs through the village and provides 8½ miles of scenic, traffic-free walking and cycling, with the spectacular viaduct at nearby Monsal Head and several tunnels along the route to keep the whole family interested.
Just down the road lies the picture postcard village of Ashford-in-the-Water, which boasts medieval Sheepwash Bridge, once a major crossing point over the River Wye for packhorses delivering mail from Derby. The nearby, renowned market town of Bakewell, which can be accessed via the Monsal Trail, offers a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, together with frequent, local farmers’ markets. Take a stroll along the river bank to feed the ducks and geese.
The spa town of Buxton, with its Opera House, is also within driving distance. You could also visit the many stately homes in the area, including iconic Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, or take a trip to the World Heritage Site of the Richard Arkwright Mills in Cromford.
